In which a girl attending college in New York stumbles across a heartbreaking tale, as told by Twitter user @najdgaf. In which Twitter user @najdgaf follows back. In which a mutual is formed. 18 year old Dottie Parker is in her first year of college at NYU. She occasionally attempts to be 'soft grunge' but apparently isn't cut out to be a hipster; it never really works out. She got the clothing ideas from tumblr. She doesn't really go on tumblr anymore. Najdah Bey, a Muslim girl, lives halfway across the world from Dottie. She listens to her father and prays more than she needs to each day (usually for concert tickets, but her dad doesn't really need to know that). They sound simple enough. But nothing is ever simple. Najdah is the same age as Dottie, and attending university as well. But this isn't the beginning to her life. It is the end. Her dad will soon arrange a marriage for her, and her 18 years of precious freedom will be up. Or will it?

My Confessional
Writing a memoir at only fifteen years old has taught me a lot. Giving me the time to reflect on the lessons I learned the hard way and the mistakes I've made thus far. I learned, if there is at least two sides to every story, there is at least two sides to every person. What could be a smile is a broken heart in a deeper reality. We all live in a society where nothing is as it seems, the people being more complex and astonishing than the countless novels we read. And in a world ruled by tragedies, we are the survivors. Getting through our own history, more important to us then what we read in school. We take our story one page at a time, word by word because in the end, it will all be worth it. I dedicate this memoir to the people who have been with me on my journey of self discovery, even if only in spirit. Mom- Who has made non stop sacrifices to ensure my happiness and well being. Nothing would be possible without you! Grandma- Who has inspired me and made a huge influence to the person I am now and who I'll be in the future. Callie- My own personal slave, illustrator, editor and full time best friend. You know I love you <3 Ariana Grande- My celebrity inspiration, showing me that it's ok to "love who you love, no one can judge, follow your heart and don't give up", getting me through the long and lonely nights. Adam Young (Of Owl City)- My first artist I listened to, your songs make me think of the past and the new adventures to come. Sam Tsui- The album "Make it up" taught me to not be scared of not knowing what's going to happen next. Being young and naive Isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it brings way to new experiences, to be vulnerable and crying doesn't make you any less of a person. Lily is a normal sixteen year old girl who lives off the coast of Sacury, California, where she loves Theatre and her friends, even though she lives in an orphanage. But when mysterious people randomly start showing up, telling her that her destiny is away from California and away from human life, she goes with them to find what she really is. What will happen as she finds out about her family... her real family? How far will she go to kill the one who murdered her sister... who is also the King of Tanyela? And maybe finding the one guy of her dreams... in a world she never expected. When things go out of hand, she will find herself in a sea of troubles... literally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, this is really a spin-off of the Fight or Flight series, choosing a different point of view and a time a littler bit after the fourth story, but don't worry- you don't need to have read the others to understand this one. Important decisions need to be taken as the next year will be a validation of everything you planned for your future, or tried to. On the other hand, you also have life to experience in a more personal aspect, joggling with friendships, family and love while not trying to lose your sanity. And in the mist of it all, you're still trying to find out who you truly are. Dark times might happen more than you imagined, but in those trying times, even if it seems impossible to do so, don't forget to focus on the light. An Unexpected Moment
... that changes everything Sarah was starting her junior year of high school. Looking at herself in the mirror, she saw a pretty average blonde haired, blue eyed, teenager. She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!Complete
