[Now With Photos!] Who are you? No, I don't mean your character. Who are you? I wonder this question every time I go to a con. I try to find a quiet spot and people watch. And my eyes are always drawn to the cosplayers: the young, the old, the experienced, the store-bought newbies, everybody. But even as I pose and smile, as the flash goes off, I wonder, who is this person? This person standing next to me, who has devoted so much time and so much more money to becoming this character? What is it about you, yes you, that compels you to travel, sometimes very far distances, to a con and give up an entire weekend to pretend to be someone you are not? It took me a couple of years to get the guts to start actually asking these questions. When I did, I wasn't disappointed. And that's where Masks Off came from. Kit When I find out about my best mate's little sister's situation, the offer is out of my mouth before I can stop it; Hawk's like a brother to me even if Amber's never looked twice at me. I could never tell if she was scared of me or hated me. But the deal is done. She's going to bring her bedraggled self upstairs to my penthouse and live with me for as long as she needs. I see the pain she hides away, I see the lack of confidence despite how smart she is, how good. If there's something I've learned, it's that confidence makes all the difference. So, it becomes my mission to help Amber find her confidence. But I find more than confidence in her and suddenly I'm seeing my best mate's little sister completely differently. Except, there might be something in the way she smiles at me that gives me hope I'm not as far out of her league as I thought. It might just be time that this chaos gets a little geek.

In truth, apparent awakening cannot occur in anyone's presence but it can only occur in anyone's absence. I couldn't have "experience" what I'm truly called for from "afar" because there is no such thing as a distance for Oneness. There is no one "over here" to gain knowledge of something "over there." Charlotte had spent the past six months pretending she wasn't heartbroken. She threw herself into work, took on the most dangerous assignments, and avoided Engfa like the plague. But now, Engfa was her boss. She couldn't escape her. She was everywhere, making it nearly impossible for Charlotte to focus. This was why she preferred fieldwork-less office time, fewer chances of running into Engfa. And just when she thought it couldn't get any worse- "CHARLOTTE, WHAT THE HELL?!" Patcha slammed her laptop shut and glared at her. "Why is your name trending on Twitter?" Charlotte blinked. "...Huh?" Lin cackled. "Oh, girl, you're in trouble. BIG trouble." Charlotte grabbed her phone, opened Twitter, and-oh. Oh, no. #JournalistExposed #GrandInsiderScandal There, clear as day, was a photo of her breaking into a restricted government building last night.
