Unraveling The Heart
After everything that happened, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off with Nova. I told myself I needed to check on her and make sure she was okay. I pushed open her door, and the sight of her almost stopped my heart. She was sitting on the floor, her back against the bed, eyes unfocused, her hand shaking as she brought another pill to her lips. My pulse quickened. "Nova?" My voice cracked, louder than I intended. She didn't respond at first, just continued, almost robotic, taking more. I rushed to her side, grabbing her wrist and forcing her to look at me. The fear in her eyes wasn't something I had ever seen before-not from her. I wasn't ready for this, but now that I was here, I couldn't look away. "What the hell are you doing?" I demanded, my voice rougher than I meant. She didn't answer.
