Ingemar Leifsson is the son of a great man: Ulrich Leifsson, one of the most renowned warriors of the surrounding villages. With two older brothers Ingemar has always felt dwarfed, spending his days longing to earn respect and attention from his family, especially his father. But when his father disappears from the village one night, Ingemar's older brother, Bjorn, who always seems to take credit for his brother's accomplishments, is put in charge. In his fury Ingemar leaves the village in search of his father, determined to return him. Along the way he meets friends and allies that he never would have imagined  - as well as enemies. Includes swords, battles, quests, discovery, long walks, taverns, a tomb and a healthy dose of magical creatures.

The ancient saga was full of Viking ship battles with plenty of Princesses, witches and warlocks, giants and dwarfs, so this is reflected in the new saga solely to maintain the historicity of the tale. When allegiances are called into question and suspicions of the Reenactment's effectiveness to select the best recruits for the einherjar start spreading, Blader must do his best to both survive and hold to the values he prizes. Even sharing her childhood stories with him, making there bond stronger. But he was playing a game of cat and mouse with her. Was everything he said true? Or was it all part of his sick game?
