The Principles of Mating:

"At the age of eighteen, a young Wolf is now capable of finding their life partner, also known as a Mate. Their mate will have to reach the required age of maturity before identifying their mate as theirs, for Wolves are mated only to other Wolves. Mates consist of a man and a woman to create a whole from two halves. The female mate will undergo the state of 'heat' as soon as their mate has been identified; the 'heat' occurs twice a year and lasts a month, until the female mate becomes pregnant.
