Here be bits of classic & contemporary literature, plus writing tips from professional writers and magazine articles. I hunt them down and share them with you, we all stay motivated and keep writing...
I hate to tell you but some of you are biased readers. For some Reason, many writers believe they must stick with their personal likes when reading or that they can only read certain kinds of books or poetry. In other words, if you write about werewolves you can only read about werewolves. If you write about skinny, Caucasian, teenage girls, you can't read about a 30-year-old Asian Males who like to snack. I'm sorry but you are missing out on a lot of good literature that may teach you something incredible or could take your work to new heights. I learned early in the university setting that you need to be well read and have a varied background in order to get in and stay in an MFA program in Creative Writing. The competition was intense getting in and staying in meant walking a tightrope between writing community and scholarly atmosphere. The bottom line, I learned the most from reading my fellow writers and studying writing techniques. I hope to offer you some of what I have learned without the MFA in creative writing or the 4 years toward the Ph.D. Personally, college/university isn't for every writer, but a lifetime of reading and learning is.
