"I awoke to the sounds of my parents fighting in the living room. I knew this would not end well as it rarely did. This was my only chance to leave before they directed their anger onto me as they did on countless occasions. Gathering what I could of my immediate belongings and necessities I opened my bedroom window and pushed the screen out, as it fell into the wet grass I looked back at my room, possibly for the last time.
