In the normally calm place known as Cedar City, there are murders abound of criminals who got innocent at their trials, murderers and rapists who got innocent for whatever reason. Bodies are found mutilated in different ways, and it's only been recently that police have linked these murders together.

Cynthia is a doctor in training who will go any length to help people. The thought of something being impossible has never stopped her, and she has done the impossible. Although, she hasn't quite gone public with her research, as her methods of beating the impossible aren't very... mortally driven. And she isn't exactly 'human' either.

Cynthia knows fully what's going on, more then the police do, but she won't be coming forwards willingly. Who would, when the scum of the population is being killed? But how many deaths will it take before anything is said? And why is she so determined to keep her mouth shut?

"Beware the world... they're out to get you... to end your life... Beware..." These were the bone-chilling words that ran through Alice's mind the last time we met her. Now, she is plagued by much worse than just creepy messages from a disembodied voice. The solution to her plight evades her around every twist and turn, try as she might to catch and hold onto the answer. Meanwhile, it does appear as though the world is out to get her. First, she dealt with countries from another dimension; then, her troubles lay in the Darkness, the embodiment of all that is evil. Finally, the nations are keeping busy with struggles that are coming from... humans? Ordinary, non-magical, everyday humans? This isn't X-Men, so what gives? Come along and search with Alice as she struggles to comprehend matters of the world as well as matters of the convoluted heart. The answers might just be right there in front of your face... Rated PG-13, though I'm willing to bet some parts will be more R-rated. I shall put warnings up just in case. Cover is taken from Pinterest and edited by Mini_Moffat. It might be changed to another cover, but until then... Warning: character death --that will make you VERY unhappy. Please do not give up hope!-- swearing, violence, espionage, awesomeness, and a multitude of references. Read at your own risk, show your support, and please appreciate all the hard work the author has put into making this book a reality.

The door opens and closes thirty times in five minutes, the table clutters endlessly. What's happening? Why am I being held by two officers in the corner of a counseling clinic? Is this an interrogation ground now? Shadows race past me, like mirages in a desert, faces flicker into view only to vanish the next second. The officers speak, but I can't hear them. My senses are failing me. Something inside me is taking control, and I might faint. If I wake up in a hospital, will this still be a nightmare, or something scripted? The city woke to devastation. The news spread like wildfire-Dr. Nadia, a champion for human rights, had been murdered in this very clinic. Yesterday, she voiced her fear for her life; no one listened. Now, she's gone. The press churned out articles minute by minute, TV channels broadcast live updates, and the internet roared with outrage. Police teams haven't slept. Top agents were deployed. That's how I met Inspectors Carla and Javed-while being held as both the prime suspect and the sole witness to this chaos. Dr. Nadia wasn't just a leader; she was a symbol of hope. She fought tirelessly for the oppressed, for justice, for rights the government ignored. Yet, she seemed to know her time was near. A week ago, she hinted at it but continued her fight. Yesterday, she paid the price-her life. Now, the city mourns her loss, consumed by guilt for ignoring her cries for help. The last time I saw Nadia, she was here, in this clinic. She didn't want to live. She seemed tired, desperate for respite. How does someone so adept at convincing others to hold on end up wanting to let go? Her death feels like a betrayal. She trusted us, and we failed her. I failed her. Now, it's on me to prove this was no accident-a cold-blooded murder. Or was it?
