A railway 415 kilometers long in the middle of two mountains built in under two years is an incredible feat during the period of war. It was one efficient railway, stretching across the borders of Burma and Thailand. The Japanese used it to launch a final attack at the Allied Powers in Burma during the second world war. The price? Heavy. Very heavy. But they were willing to pay.
