Her parents were killed. They got assigned her case.
The 12th precinct teams lives all get flipped around when two people are murdered. The victims 13 year old daughter, who's now being targeted, is placed in NYPD custody. Everything will change.
This is a story that I wrote last year for my English class, and I'm just now getting around to posting it. I hope you enjoy!

Finding home
Kate Beckett has been a fan of criminovelist Richard Castle ever since the first book, but when she starts researching about becoming a foster mother she gets shocked to see his daughter, Alexis Harper Castle, is one of the kids who needs a foster home, fast. Kate immediately jumps in and goes through all the tests needed to be accepted as a foster mother for the girl.
