A tall, sweet faced girl walked through the local park. With curious eyes and a wandering mind. With untamable curly hair. 

The local park was a wooded area full of animals. Some, not ones that would usually be in a park. One in particular lurked. Almost stalked the girl.

The girl's name is Clark. A strong, stubborn, tall and kind teenager. She wasn't like most teens. No boyfriend to fawn over, no social media to distract her, and somewhat loved math. As some would say; a nerd. But she was proud to be one. She excelled in school and is incredibly talented in math. In other words she was smart.

That one particular animal goes by the name of Liam. Or rather Prince Liam. Sole heir to the Kingdom of Emeralds. Calm and collected, yet strong and and well built. A sharp mind meant he was smart with the ladies.

 He is what you call a shape shifter. You choose your "shape" when you are 3 years old. He had chosen a lion. Fitting for a soon to be king.

A little background info on shape shifters. They have mates. He had just found his lioness, his Queen. She was to be his.

'Come on, you can't stay here come out or we'll have to come in after you.' I curl tighter around my babies and growl. No way would I let them near my babies. 'Now, now, we've been nice don't get unfriendly or we'll have to add to your injuries before we heal you.' Slipping to my feet I keep my body over my babies without squishing them. Whether it was my moving, my fear or they could smell our visitors but they began to whimper and squirm. Both lioness perk up at the sound. 'Stay away.' I tell them. 'You've babies? This is not the place for them.' One says, the other shifts her weight. 'The blood, you just gave birth didn't you? Where's your family? Can we call someone?' 'No. Go away, let me rest for a time and I'll take my babies and leave your territory.' 'You can't just wonder around with a newborn. How are you going to care for them. Come with us we'll take care of you until you get back on your feet.' 'No, I don't know you. Go away.' 'We won't hurt you.' I couldn't believe that, I couldn't trust these strangers. They were lions, lions were not known for being kind. I'd come out and they'd kill me and my babies.

His father and mother both carried the recessive white gene even though they are tawny. As he is cast out Spiros' father instructs his son to find his pride although that has never been his priority. In a pride, one or more fully mature males covet a harem of females and defend the pride land from nomadic males trying to ensure their offspring reach maturity before they are dethroned after their prime comes to an end. Most male lion shifters can hold onto territory for nearly 25 years. The females of the species stay in the same land they were born and as long as all their cubs are grown and able to flee or defend themselves they accept new males without much of a fight. Lion shifters live much like their wild cousins. Other cat shifters are a bit different with only wanting one mate as they are mostly solitary creatures save for their mate and cubs. After leaving his pride Spiros settles in his own territory without a pride and hopes that he will stumble upon who he would choose to be his mate. As his instincts guided him to the territory in which he settled. But maybe he does want a pride, but he wants it different from other lions.
