Roots of the Eucalyptus Tree

A lonely fourteen year old girl, lives at the old berkley place orphanage. Every day, she goes outside and reads a book under the eucalyptus tree. but something continues to aggravate her while shes reading. this process is repeated daily, and soon she develops a unique relationship with the creature and as unusual as it seems, they become best friends. But when she is adopted by a new family from the orphanage, will she take the possum with her? What dangers lie within her new family? Who will die?
