Byrde Wildebeest was a hard working young woman, looking after her two younger twin sisters all on her own since she was eleven. Her father and older brother had been sent away to work in the Mining Colonies of Sinsbrothe. And the rulers of Sinsbrothe, the Prime Supremacy, control the people through the terror of being sent there and the separation of the people through not only race but on how well they can work too.
Perhaps this would have all been easier to deal with for Byrde if it hadn't been for the thing that inconveniences her at the same time as keeping her from being sent to the Mines.
Byrde is blind.
But that doesn't matter to a group of rebels, as they force her to volunteer herself into the dreaded Crotto Trials, where every Crotto enters a team that will face seven challenges that could either end in death or a one-way ticket to the Gallows.
But despite Byrde's hatred of the Prime Supremacy, she wonders if it is really worth it to rebel when all hope seems lost.

War, however, forces the loser to obey no matter what for however long the winner decides. If humanity-the entire world-only submitted to the strongest then he would dominate them all. Only he would be the strongest, allowing no other person to even come close to his power. He would burn the world down to its very foundation, eradicating everyone who stands in his way, and rebuild it anew. The new world would be transformed into what he could never have. A fair and just world, devoid of all sins, where everyone can live a peaceful life without the constant worry of what could hurt them next. New laws will be placed while the old ones are removed. All evil will be purged from the world. Any who stand in his way will be turned to ash to help build his world. "Oppi I can't do this! I lost you once! I lost both my sparkmate and my siblings! I can't continue this war for you" , I say desperately clinging to him so that he can't leave. Optimus tries to gently pull me off of him but once I tighten my grip he sighs and says- "My spark, I know this is a lot to ask of you but I need your help. You are the one I trust the most to continue the small amount of peace we have established." Desperately clinging onto him I practically wail- "The peace won't last Optimus! You know just as well as I do that the humans will hunt us all down! I need you here! I need my leader, my Sire here!" A pained look appears in his optics, and for just a second I feel hope that he will stay. "Sweet Spark you know as well as I that if I stay we are endangering more human lives. If this happens we will be hated even more. Besides, no matter how much you say you hate humans, you can never forget that you yourself were once human. And I know you will not sit by and watch your planet's destruction happen if you can do something about it." My spark breaks a little more as I realize he's right. While some humans are nothing more than monsters, there are some like Sam and Michaela or the Yeagers. Besides, I love this planet so much. It's the only home I've ever known. Optimus pulls closer to me and holds my face up as Energon tears leak from my optics. He smiles at me before gently kissing away my tears.
