To add more of a background story is that she came to camp in Percy's 3rd year. She came to camp by herself because she was vacationing at the local resort nearby with her family and a monster chased her out of resort property and lead her to camp. She lived with her adopted family since she was 6 months old. Amanda was the one chosen to be given up because Poseidon knew that percy was going to be important to the camp.
