A book is just a book, an inanimate square object that you can hold in your hands and just simply exists, that is, until you open it. Suddenly it opens up a whole new world filled with burning acts of love, impending deaths, and wondrous magic. In the end though, when the book is finished, it's closed and put back on a shelf because it's just a story. A magnificent set of twisted words extracted from the depths of someone's imagination.

Thousands of years ago, the universe in which Emlyn's planet inhabits was dying. Planets emitted waves of energy which was used to sustain the universe, but the universe was ever expanding and the planets weren't. Starvation, drought, infection, fear, and death reigned. The council on her planet called in their most powerful leaders and came up with a plan. If the universe needed more planets then that's what it would get.

Suddenly books weren't fiction anymore, but a supernatural reality, a living planet that sustained the universe, and for a while everything was okay. But when an uprising threatens to break the delicate balance that holds them together, Amethyst knows she must act.
