Arabella was running away from her past. She had a dark sense of humor to cover up the fact that she faced inner turmoil everyday. A lot came with being the infinite sister of the two Salvatore brothers.
Darkness follows both of them. How can they possibly navigate through all the supernatural drama? How can both of them deal with their curses, metaphorically and literally. There are so many questions to be answered, so many sacrifices to be made.
