Cleo Kalling is a 12-year-old who's life is going down hill. First, her dad has been dead for two years now. At least that's what they say, no one found the body. Next, someone has been sending her strange letters that sound like a threat, but it could also be a. . . . warning? Then, new kids come into her school and weird things start to happen around her. Finally, she starts to feel a tingling feeling on her spine. She is jumping at every noise. What's going on! Worst of all when she lays down to go to bed she feels a presence in her room watching her. Every day she feels the presence grow stronger. Questions, secrets, and fear circle around her. What's that presence in her room? Who are the new kids that just came into her life? Why is she so scared nowadays? And what's behind her father's disappearance or as everyone says his death?

I laugh as I walk down to the shore, holding the heels of my shoes as I walk far enough for the cool water to rush around my ankles. It's funny how life works out.
