"Pula mea!" I exclaim as the body, that totally came out of nowhere, falls to the ground, seemingly lifeless. The worms on the wall would tell a different story, though.
"What? Lady, I just saved your life." The man's accented voice rips me out of my worm-induced trance. My eyes trail up his (muscular) body and latch onto his weapon of choice; an axe. He seems to be giving me a look that I can't place.
"What," I begin in a snarky way, "Do you want a Thank-You letter?"
He chuckles and shakes his head. "Actually, after the day I've had, that would be a great surprise, gorgeous."
pestiferous- harboring infection and/or disease
(adjective)
Luminita Setrackian, the only surviving granddaughter of Abraham Setrackian, found herself traveling back to New York City when a very dear friend and family member is diagnosed with Coronary Artery Disease (also know as Ischemic Heart Disease).
When the plane lands in JFK International Airport, Luminita realizes that she is the only one not iced on the plane, and when authorities from the CDC finally come to her aid, they realize that something they have never encountered before occurred practically right under their noses.
By the time Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and Dr. Nora Martinez realize that this virus needs to be contained, the infected are already let out and there's only one way to stop them: Luminita's newly discovered grandpa and his band of misfits.
Luminita doesn't realize that the pull she feels almost 24/7 is the Master, planning his domination of the human race once again, calling her to be his trusty accessory.
She was born pestiferous, and there is nothing stopping her from accomplishing what she wants.
Except maybe Gus.

Aarna never thought two pink lines could shake her world.
She stood frozen, staring at the test in her trembling hands. Pregnant. A word she had longed to hear, yet feared the most.
Would he accept it? Or would he push her away again, just like before?
The door creaked open. Her heart pounded.
Sharad's sharp gaze met hers. "What are you hiding?"
Her breath hitched. She wasn't ready for this. Not yet.
