This is a Derek centric. When the Hale fire happened, the only Hales left were Laura, Derek, Cora and their Uncle Peter. The four didn't know how to function as a family, they had just lost everyone they ever loved. Derek blamed himself for the destruction of everything they knew and loved. Laura was alpha and Peter was practically dead. What were they supposed to do? This is the journey of how the Hales survived and how Derek dealt with the pain. It's also what Derek did with his man pain.
(I will get to Beacon Hills, it's a bit AUish though because the Hales are all together in this story.)

Forgive me this is my first book This is an au after season 2: The alpha pack does not exist, Jackson not leaving, Erica and Boyd alive and Peter is not as evil as everyone thought. Since the fire Derek and Laura have gone underground and are nowhere to be found. During her first night in Beacon Hills, Scott gets bitten by an unknown alpha. Soon she finds Derek and in the process finds out their feelings run even deeper then she originally though. Side by side they work to together to help Scott learn how to be a werewolf but also to catch the unknown alpha. Along with the other dangers that begin the fill the town. Hayley and Derek's love is tested throughout the story. One thing they know is that they will always have each other. That their love is forever.

Stiles can't sleep, and if he told enough people that was all it was, maybe he would start to believe it. Still, as tensions were rising about them losing their territory he couldn't bother them with something he didn't even fully understand. Maybe he just needed something fun and easy to help him relax. Like the hot neighbor that he keeps catching staring at him. Derek can't sleep, and if he cleans his house enough maybe people won't realize how he doesn't care enough to clean up other parts of his life. Still, as he worried about his job and obligations, he couldn't let them down about finding a place they belonged. Maybe he just needed something interesting to keep his mind off of it.
