He is attempting to collide the Kingdom's for the sake of his own life and his own reputation. Knowing how the Kingdom's people look up to him, he knows combining the two Kingdom's will make everyone more powerful and put his daughter in the higher position she deserves which is to become queen. He knows how dangerous she can be, but it's not stopping him from saving himself at the end of the day. Being in an rivalry with this family their whole lives, Ahjae doesn't know any other way to react other than defense when her father sets up an arranged marriage between her and her rival, Adu.
