17 year old Heather McKinsey is a foster kid and a hacker-for-hire. When a young couple in Blue Hills Tennessee decide to become her foster parents, she has no intention of sticking around. As far as she's concerned, going to live in the dumpy little town is about the same as going to Hell -- but with fewer interesting people. When she meets Tyler Devereux, supreme emo king of Blue Hills Highschool, she doesn't expect to have anything in common with the seemingly boring slacker.
