I walk down the glass stairs and into the ballroom where the twins and I's 18th birthday party is being held.
a Royal's 18th birthday party is always like the old fashioned balls with fancy dresses and suits because it's the day the person finds their mate and once they do the couple is crowned king and queen in front of all supernaturals and once everyone leaves only the important supernaturals and close family are left and at midnight the moon goddess comes to give the couple her blessing and power.
and of course, that's something I'm excited about.
once I make it to the bottom of the stairs the twins come on both sides of me and take my hands, escorting me to the stage.
"You look beautiful princess" Kai whispers in my ear
"No you look delicious, so delicious I could just eat you up..." Connor whispers in my ear making me roll my eyes and scoff.
once we make it on the stage we turn towards everyone and I immediately smile.

Kai leaned against the rough stone wall, every muscle coiled like a spring. In the end, what do you do when your closest friend betrays you? This is the story as they try to keep their biggest darkest secret of what they are capable of and as they discover they're not the only ones like them... I am not very good at trigger warnings before individual chapters but there is mention of blood, cold abuse and parents divorcing. (But read at your own risk in case I mention something else. "That was weird, but I can't stop my heart beating ten times faster than it should be. Laying down on the bed I face away from the bathroom door not wanting him to look at me. I pull the white cover up to my nose and look at the wall. I hear the bathroom door open and footsteps reach closer to the bed. The covers are being moved behind me as Mateo gets ready to sleep. I reach up to turn off the lap on my nightstand, and when I do we're left in the dark abyss of my room. Mateo's arm wraps itself around my waist and pulls me back into his hard chest. He gently lifts my head up and puts it back down onto his bicep. I take in a shaky breath and close my eyes deciding it is best to just sleep. Feeling his breath on the crown of my head, I'm more relaxed than I was before and start feeling sleepier by the second. But before sleep overtakes my mind. I hear Mateo mutter something. "Good night sweetheart." ~~~~~~ Moving on. Growing up. The fears of Mateo and Veronica. Two strangers who have been attending the same high school for the past three years. It's me with another 9/11 story bc I have some weird stomach bug North Tower. She's an 11-year-old Manhattan native in the sixth grade. This girl loves reading, writing, art, and spending time with the best twin sister in the world. She also captains a team in one of the most well-known junior ice hockey leagues in the country.
