Bill has been erased.
Well, that's what the townsfolk of Gravity Falls thought..
Bill had extreme power, and a dream demon can't simply be erased. The shockwave of magic released by his death picked out certain, special individuals.
The prophets of the Cipher Wheel, to be more specific.
Mabel, Dipper, Stan, Ford, Soos, Pacifica, Gideon, McGucket, Robbie, and Wendy are all presumed dead when they disappear after Bill's defeat.
But they aren't dead. Not really.
