In the midst of the Cold War, people's hearts and minds are filled with nothing but fear and paranoia towards everything they believed in- or whether they had anything left to hope for. Nadia and her mother make the treacherous journey from East to West Berlin, involuntarily leaving her father behind. Everything she hope for from the West and the US sponsors- perhaps some gifts, abundant food supplies- even just a chance at escaping the harsh regimes of communism implemented by the Soviets- eventually dwindles. As her hopes at acquiring more dwindle, she waits until soon enough, her hope starts to wane too until she is left depleted, still waiting...
