Long ago in the kingdom of Empire, there were seven sacred weapons called Spectrum Blades, each possessing a different power and representing a different gemstone and color of the rainbow. Empire along with the gems and swords were protected by a trio of warriors: Cure Ink, Cure Kitty and Cure Angel. 

Beneath the Palance of Empire, stayed the evil Duchess Mal who before escaping stole the Spectrum Blades owned by Cures Ink, Kitty and Angel, no longer allowing them to transform into Pretty Cure and banishing them to Earth.
