When a family of single women, widows, and orphans are removed from their home, calamity strikes and strikes hard. Darkness overtakes their once-cheery faces and envelopes their spirits. However, a ray of sunlight shines upon them as they are given somewhere to live free of charge, an abandoned insane asylum. The story follow their struggles in their new home, as well as the victories they share with each other and the friends and lovers they meet along the way. One thing is certain: nothing is as it seems, and there is danger and mystery lurking around every corner in this tale of romance, horror, mystery, and adventure set in the year 1900.
