The villagers of Cottonwing Falls are pampered by the magical city their forebears built, but grown-ups no longer use magic themselves, ostensibly because it's embarrassing; it's the preserve of children. But is that the real reason?
A teenage boy, who still uses magic, gets into trouble and is exiled. On his journey, he gains knowledge of magical theory. Then, catastrophe strikes his village, and the boy who "never grew up" may be the villagers' only hope! Too bad for them!
