Mya thinks she's just an ordinary wife. The Ministry of Citizenship thinks she's an alien who shouldn't have been brought to Earth in the first place. Some women regard Mya as a perfect role model: everything a dutiful and fulfilled wife should be. Others wish to free Mya from her Earth-born husband, a scientist and astronaut named Daniel. Daniel's sister, Cinnamon, wants to find out more about her new sister-in-law. She's not sure what to do when she finds the information; she suspects she will sell it to a slightly disreputable news company. The story begins just before two police officers arrive to arrest Daniel. It's not the first time Daniel has been in trouble with authority, but he fervently hopes it will be the last time. What nobody realises is that a series of new complications is about to enter Mya's life.

As an advanced android with cutting-edge technology, Connor's logical approach contrasts sharply with Carla's instinct-driven methods. Initially skeptical of androids, Carla finds herself drawn to Connor's calm demeanor and unyielding sense of justice. As they work together, their professional bond deepens, and something more begins to stir between them. From allies to something more complicated, their growing connection challenges everything Carla thought she knew about love, trust, and the line between man and machine.
