The year is 2012. A team of Russian scientists in the middle of Antarctica had worked fourteen years to uncover a subglacial lake, Lake Vostok, that hasn't been touched by Earth's air in over 40 million years. Finally, the dedicated team break the surface. Everyone is in tears of joy at such a prehistoric discovery. But in minutes all communication was lost. After days of unsuccessfully trying to reach the scientists, no information has been uncovered about their mid-air disappearance. Will the brave team ever find their way back to reality?
This novel is in journal-style, and is historically based off of the real-life events of the famous Lake Vostok mystery.

More tests to make more technology to go further, faster more this more that. Boom It all went up in flames, radiation spilled out into South America from the global power station in Brazil. The nuclear plant 15 times that of Chernobyl blew its top. The initial explosion flattened Brazil and the shockwaves were felt from the Florida keys. But the thing that truly ruined the world was the nuclear fallout. it rained down everywhere turning the world into a desolate wasteland deserts for miles and miles. Now you live in districts to survive, but what's the good in just being a number. Why would you look forward to a future of infant nothing, can you run from that? Where would you go? Where have the people who have escaped gone? Is that a future? What if there's someone who got left behind? It has been a stressful year for Rain who has struggled to keep up with the workload during her first year of marine biology at University. Now that summer has finally arrived, she can look forward to a long anticipated break and spend time with her friends enjoying one of their favourite pastimes - swimming in the Loch! Summer solstice arrives and they all decide to go swimming in the Loch to celebrate decent weather for once! Rain jumps in first, revelling in the warm but surprisingly cool water. As she surfaces, the summer weather has disappeared and she discovers her friends' lifeless bodies floating next to her. But how could this happen to strong swimmers in a shallow loch with no currents? The investigation commences and it's clear the police are struggling to find answers. Radically they suggest calling in special advisors to assist the investigation - the Paranormal Investigation Team (PIT). Will they fare better than the local police force? This isn't the first unexplained death to occur in this spot, after all this is the same loch where three children were discovered floating dead in the Loch during a game of hide and seek at a birthday party. Rain knows that supernatural forces don't exist. But no living person could have done this. Now she must work with PIT to unravel the truth behind a convoluted mystery of lies, murders and haunting stories to find out what really happened to her friends.
