The Wildfire Virus. That's the illness the eggheads have called dubbed that has spread alarmingly fast all over the world. No could figure out at first how and where it came from or how even spread so quickly. I was on leave, visiting brother in Boston when the infection hit. Yesterday, the world was normal with its own conflicts. The next, millions get sick, hospitals are overwhelmed, and any sort of space was converted into a makeshift hospital to handle all the sick. On day 2 the sick died and awoke attacking the living. I tried to get out of the city, but the military closed off every major access point and now I'm trapped within, along with millions of undead. When one of them falls ill, in dire need of medicine, the group is forced to travel to the hospital across town, where they discover something, or rather someone unexpected. Mark was a normal person before the outbreak, before he was bitten by his own father, before everything went to hell in a handbasket. Now he lives under the hospital with his trusty cat Buckwheat, hiding from the daylight and wondering why him, out of all the infected, has to "live" with the curse of sanity after his demise.
