Two centuries ago, scientists brought back smaller and smarter versions of dinosaurs. However, these creatures turned against humanity, sparking a nuclear world war that left most of the world uninhabitable, except for what remains of the United States. To protect the survivors, a massive wall was built to keep the dinosaurs out and to prevent people from venturing into the dangerous wilderness beyond.

When the first John Howard rose to power, he established a communist regime and introduced "The Compromise": families are periodically sacrificed to the dinosaurs to prevent them from attacking the rest of the country. For over 200 years, this grim tradition has continued, and now, John Howard IV rules as president.

The Thompson family believes they are safe from being chosen, but they are about to be proven terribly wrong. Selected based on their wealth, they are sent out as sacrifices along with seven other families. As they face numerous challenges and uncover shocking secrets that could topple John Howard's regime, the Thompsons must confront not only the deadly dinosaurs but also their own dark family secrets.

It continues spreading and now has infected its first corpse, the remains of an ant. This new creature comes and spreads to that ant's nest and then to the animals that eat them. Before less than a month passed, the virus had spread to a graveyard in the hidden grottos of the Yukon. This virus, now able to think from the new minds of fresh bodies, can strategize. In only another week, the epidemic had spread to the northern edge of the United States. Spreading further and further in, people began to notice this strange happening. From people disappearing to entire towns popping out of existence, the bacteria continued to spread. To keep order, the governments had those who disappeared erased from existence, but it wasn't enough. The takeover of those long gone happened in less than three weeks and society collapsed. Spreading overseas, it began its removal of life in Europe, but that's a story for another day. We now come to those few remaining settlements in the collapsed U.S, now called The Crumbled Land. What does this new land hold hidden deep in the remnants of its former glory?
