I thought it was possible. I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to come back saying "I got the gem. The world is fine." I didn't want to be some epic failure in a risky use of taxdollars. Oh, by the way, my name is Blake Surregot. I am 27 years old. I have been interested in space since I was 14. When I was chosen to be an astronaut to Mars, I jumped on it- (literally, look at the NASA directors shoulder). What I didn't know was I'd be in a big, dangerous storm, get ditched by my crew and find myself in a land that words can literally not explain. I also didn't know Malifecent is almost real of that my 10th grade electives would ever be useful. Or that I may or may not save the world. Ya. That too.

I am not from this planet. Hell, I am technically not from this galaxy. However, that doesn't change the fact I am here now, and my job is to save what I can on this forsaken planet and what's left of its inhabitants. The problem is that not everyone wants to be saved. I know what you're thinking. You can't save those who don't want to be saved. I bloody well agree. The ones who sent me don't care what you or I think, though. All they care about is numbers. They need a certain success rate to continue to get funding for their "expeditions" and "peacekeeping" efforts. I use both terms loosely here. However, that's what they put on their records, and it's what sounds good and looks suitable to their investors. So this is the way it's going to be. So be it! Oh, did I forget to mention the Universe decided I was the lucky girl to help find the one person who could save us all from self-destruction? I thought I was normal. That's what I was always led to believe anyways. But then one day a portal opened up in my closet and someone yanked me onto the other side. In the beginning, there was death. The darkness flows from hues of purple and orange, the moon rising to kiss the sun's rays one last time as the darkest cloud of night I've ever seen falls over our tiny haven.
