I thought it was possible. I wanted to be a hero. I wanted to come back saying "I got the gem. The world is fine." I didn't want to be some epic failure in a risky use of taxdollars. Oh, by the way, my name is Blake Surregot. I am 27 years old. I have been interested in space since I was 14. When I was chosen to be an astronaut to Mars, I jumped on it- (literally, look at the NASA directors shoulder). What I didn't know was I'd be in a big, dangerous storm, get ditched by my crew and find myself in a land that words can literally not explain. I also didn't know Malifecent is almost real of that my 10th grade electives would ever be useful. Or that I may or may not save the world. Ya. That too.

I knew there was always something special about me. I knew I was different from all the other girls. I could feel things before they actually happened, hear things nobody else could. In the beginning, there was death. The darkness flows from hues of purple and orange, the moon rising to kiss the sun's rays one last time as the darkest cloud of night I've ever seen falls over our tiny haven. I always thought I was safe, you know? I mean, it wasn't really something I thought about before. It's not like I had a reason to worry about being particularly unsafe. I've always been perfectly normal anyways. Nothing exciting or dangerous happened to me. I was a plain Jane in every sense of the phrase, and nothing strange or particularly astonishing ever happens to people like me. My entire philosophy, however, was completely and drastically changed after being attacked and raped one night. I probably would have been killed if it weren't for Drake Collins, the closed off "tough guy" of my school. He came to my rescue, and reluctantly swore not to breathe a word to anyone. Unfortunately, my attacker escaped. It was after that, that I closed myself off from the few people that I did talk to before. My safety, my very sense of security, was violated. My world was swept out from under my feet. Drake stayed by my side the entire time, helping me through my struggles. He became the only one I could talk to or confide in, and was soon the only reason I woke up each morning. He kept me safe.Complete
