It starts as a low rumble, reminiscent of thunder, trains on a track, or even a subway roaring through a station. Things are flying at a dangerous speed. My only hope of survival is to get as deep into the ground as I possibly can, but I find no cover... I cannot kill them. Any of them. Already, I dread it... I stand still, hoping that they will miss me.

April 22 I've been walking for days, they're still tracking me though. i sleep high in the trees, I double back, walk in the river, cover my tracks, start false trails...it's all slowing me down but it's really the only chance I have. I'm on foot. I'm alone. The day the grid went down I was in the mountains and I stayed put for over a month, unable to contact anyone. The electricity is out, the phones don't work, no running water, no cars, no radio...nothing. It's dangerous to go into towns now, survivors are scared, starving and dying by the thousands, but their bodies seem to just disappear. Sometimes I hear screams in the night that sound like they come straight from the depths of Hell, and the scent of sulphur and rot rides on the breeze when the heaviest clouds block out the sun. I think it's the thing that got Dan...the thing that's almost gotten me.
