While messing about, best friends, Maria and Lola, stumble across a strange forest, and even stranger, when the two come across two strange men, they feel as if they should leave... but can they?
Back at the clearing in the middle they find a locked door and two possible escape routes, hearing the men closing in they run as fast as they can down one of the trails, looking back only to check if the men are catching up. The trail leads them to a small courtyard, with many doors and a large rock standing in the middle, in a race against time the friends try all the door, but they seem to ALL be locked, just their luck, until Maria works out the key to cracking the code, then touches the handle of a door that they strangely seemed to have missed, it glows and a sign on the door lights up, even though the door is locked, still they find it amazing, but also strange, staggering backwards, Lola bashes into another door that seemed to have just appeared, touching the handle that door too lights up. wondering what is going on, Maria tries to run only finding herself hitting yet another door, out of curiosity she touches the handle, the same happens... all of a sudden a strange noise comes from the ground, revealing a strange pattern, along with some strange objects, quickly Maria grabs a piece of paper from her backpack and starts to scribble down the pattern, while Lola keeps watch, on a note that the men are nearing, the two girls race off, grabbing the artifacts, only to find themselves in more trouble, much BIGGER trouble!
How will the girls survive? Who are those strange men? Why do they chase the girls? What do they want? And who seems to be watching the two friends?
"Who's out there?" One of the men yelled.
Of course only silence met them. I remained quiet and waited for the group to start moving again.
"Maybe it was just an animal." Someone whispered.
The person, who I assumed was the captain of the small squad, signaled for them to walk again.
They clearly showed fear as they kept going; brandishing their weapons to guard themselves with.
"Two are holding lanterns. I'll tell you when you're too close to them." I heard my friend whisper in my ear.
I followed the men as I picked up another branch and waited for the right time to break it. They continued to walk through the forest, turning their heads in every direction as if an animal might lunge at them and rip their throats out.
I guess in a way I was going to do that.
"Go back a few feet." My friend whispered.
I carefully distanced myself from the group and waited.
"Where is she?"
I quickly snapped the stick as soon as he finished asking the question.
They stopped and two soldiers raised their lanterns to shine its light in the darkness.
I quickly hid behind a tree before both of them turned where I was.
A low frustrated growl came from one of the men, "The girl's playing with us. She's out here following our every move."
How paranoia can cloud the mind.
