The Twins • Book One • Rewritten

My head swirls with the truth, and the somehow shocking words. A part of me has always known, but the other part of me that was in denial was in control. Now that side of me doesn't know what to do; it can't be in denial of the facts anymore.

I stand up and stride out of the dining room and out the front door, needing to be away from everything. I need to clear my mind, to focus, and I can't if I'm in the same room as them. I need to be out in the forest. It always helps me.

"Nia!" I hear Saber's voice yell for me, and I turn around to see him running to me. He wraps me in his familiar and comfortable embrace, and I relax immediately, reveling in the only constant thing in my life right now.

Antonia, or Nia, thinks she has a normal life for a 17 year old cat shapeshifter, or at least as normal as it can be. Some aspects of her life are strange, like the dream that she has had every night since she was 16 and the fear of the unknown that the dream causes.

But, to help Nia through it all is her best friend Saber. Their birthdays are only a week apart and their parents are best friends, so they've known each other for their whole lives and couldn't be closer. They trust each other wholly.

So when Saber starts encouraging Nia to ask questions, she does.

The answers they receive lead them on a wild journey across realm barriers to find Nia's missing twin sister, Ivory. Nia has always wanted a sister.

But as the saying goes, be careful what you wish for.
