"When we're older, we'll get married and go to the moon!" The moon's silvery glow beamed down upon Maddie's slightly tanned skin, radiating off her auburn colored hair as she smiled happily.
"Yeah! We'll be the first people on the moon... it'll be amazing." A young boy with blonde hair and grey sparkling eyes by the name of Jacob looked over at Maddison with a radiant smile.
"Together?" He asked curiously.
"Forever." Maddison replied, smiling back.

"Maddison Curtis! Answer the door, honey!" A voice from the living room called out.
"Yeah, I've got it Ma'"
1956, one year into the Vietnam war and Jake had been sent off to fight. He grew into a strong and confident man, quite selfless for sure. Always putting others in front of him, and entering the war was the perfect opportunity for him to give back to his country; and when he was to return, he and Maddie were to be married, after all it had been almost ten years since their little promise and it just seemed to stick somehow.
"Hello!" Maddie swung open the door, giving the two men on her door step a welcoming smile, her eyes scanning over their clothing. Military uniform. Her bright smile slowly fell as she looked back up towards the men, looking back and forth between them questioningly. "Yes? What is it?"
"Miss. Curtis? Correct." The taller man with somewhat thinning hair asked.
"Yes, sir. That's me."
"Jake Manchester... he's been captured in Vietnam."
The young females facial expressions changed dramatically, her eyes beginning to water slightly. "C-captured...?" Her voice trembled with fear as she quickly tried to find something to occupy her hands, which just so happened to be a small strand of her auburn-red hair.
