Shy's expression softened as she looked at Yam, sleeping soundly before her. She knew Yam was tired from their intimacy earlier. Shy held Yam close, unwilling to let go, acutely aware that this was their last day together. The promise of a future meeting felt hollow; the thought of tomorrow brought a wave of sadness. She had to be content, grateful for this one day, for the feel of Yam's heartbeat against her own.
Yam's phone rang, breaking the quiet intimacy. Shy pretended to sleep, tightening her embrace. Yam struggled to free herself, but exhaustion held her captive. "Shy," she whispered softly.
A shiver ran down Shy's spine as Yam's breath brushed her ear. She slowly opened her eyes, humming in response. "I need to answer my phone," Yam murmured.
Shy reluctantly released her grip, letting go of Yam, and with her, her hope. There was no reason to hold on anymore.
Yam reached for her phone and answered, "What?" she exclaimed, forgetting Shy was beside her. The news on the other end of the line unsettled her, making her forget she was still naked. She sat up abruptly in bed.
Seeing Yam's naked body, Shy quickly shifted, her heart pounding. Yam had a maddening effect on her. Yam looked at Shy with a sad expression. She was leaving earlier than expected. "I'll be leaving tonight... you can stay here if you want to," Yam said, before grabbing a bathrobe and heading into the bathroom.
