I hadn't thought it would be this way. That I would end up in a place like this. That I would end up in... Hell.

On that day, the sky was clear, the sun warm on the school grounds, and life felt light, full of possibility. My friends and I-each of us so different, yet inseparable-believed nothing could ever tear us apart. We were "The Anarchists," a group of misfits who never quite fit the mold, and that was precisely what made us strong. But gunshots shattered the peace, tearing apart the world as we knew it. In an instant, our little safe haven became a nightmare, and what remains now are only memories-memories of a friendship that even death can't truly end it.

There is a war raging within me, a constant battle between what I know and what I feel. My priorities became a blur after you happened, and absence never felt so real.

The dead bodies floating in the water washing up to the beach's shore the cruise ship burning in the distance sinking into the Caribbean Sea. I guess we should have just left that day to rest. I never believed it would end like this. I was just watching Netflix when the power went out, then before I knew it everyone was screaming, then the school began to shake and fell to the ground. Only three kids in my entire school were spared, four if you count me. I found a group of people heading to the east coast for a boat trip to a supposed safe haven in India. They died of disease days later. I found their bodies by the river. But I guess this is my life now, surviving with a scared boy, a pair of twins and trying to make it to the next day.
