This place is better off without me."  22-year-old Tyler Ryan, known to everyone as "Knots" is a low-life inhabitant of Chicago's underbelly. From age 16 when his parents were killed by a mentally unstable passerby, he has had to fend for himself on the streets. With his street friends Lucy "Barbie" Anderson, Jacob "Tails" Macarch, and Davis "Chocker" Randall, they have some pretty good times. With Barbie's many boyfriends, Chocker's run ins with the higher classes, and Knots's strange encounters with a boy from the other block, times get pretty interesting around their neck of the woods. But hey, everything turns out fine when you're street smart. Right?
