Shadows

Everything and everyone in this world has a shadow. Have you ever wondered who or what moves when you move, awakens when you awaken, sleeps when you sleep? Haven't you ever thought of the creatures that lurk in the dark depths of our world and mind?
Even if you haven't, I'm sure you have, or will be overshadowed by someone. You are pushed to the back of minds. You did, do, or will feel like whatever doesn't matter. Like you can die at any given time and people will never notice, nevertheless care that you are banished from this existence. Welcome to the world of Tanaiah Black, the next leader of Aloka Itzal. She is made different by her parents and their past. Shadows, Tanaiah's people, can have varying gifts. All shadows are invisible to humans, though there are a few exceptions. Say, somehow, a Shadow is able to materialize when in light. Tanaiah, for example, is an oddball when it comes to this. She can also shape shift into different animals, as long as she is in the shadow. She has a few other interesting aspects to her, but, one thing she can't do is feel worthy of being the next leader.
