Do you remember those haunting tales your parents would tell you, about the beast that would roam the forest on the full moon in search for the girl in the red cape, so he could eat her up? I always thought it was just folklore, a myth, a simple fairy tale. Never did I think I'd be the one in the red cape, and the beast would be searching for me. Not to mention, a beast who wants to eat me in a way different than the tales. My soul mate.

I curled under the jungle gym and cried my eyes out. Suddenly a shadow hovered over me. I looked up saw a boy about my age staring at me with a Unknown expression. He bent down and wiped away my tears with the pad of his thumbs. I immediately stopped crying and looked into his bright Emerald eyes. "Why are you crying?" He asked and I looked down. "Because I know that'll never make friends here" I said quietly. He was quiet for a minute before finally speaking up. "I'll be your friend" he said quietly while looking into my eyes. I smiled a toothy grin. "Really!?" I asked and he nodded his head. "What's your name?" he asked. I hesitated. "Dawn." He repeated it under his breath once, then again, slower, as if he was tasting it. "Dawn." The sound of it hit something in me that shouldn't have existed. But then his gaze hardened again. "You were with her," he said quietly, anger laced in his face as he brought up Mandy. "How do you know her?" "I don't," he said tightly. "But I know what her pack did," His words confused me, "she's a killer. I've been tracking her for weeks." My blood ran cold. "You're lying." "I wish I was," he murmured, stepping closer again. "She's dangerous, Dawn." "She's my friend." He flinched like I'd struck him. "She's the reason people are after you." "That doesn't make sense-" "She's the one they were following. But they found you too, and they changed their target. I don't know why." His eyes flicked over my face, his tone shifting. "Unless... unless they know what you are." I took a sharp step back, panic clawing at my throat. "You don't know anything about me." "No," he said quietly. "But I want to." The way he said it made my pulse stutter. His voice was aching. And then, he grew softer, "When I found you, I thought you were just a human. I tried to tell myself you were. But my wolf..." He stopped, dragging in a rough breath. "He knows you. He recognized you before I even saw your face." "What are you even saying," I shook my head, heart racing. "You're insane." I shuddered. It had never been so dark, nor so quiet before. There was always the light of the moon to guide me. The sound of the wind against the trees. I shook the thought from my mind and continued further into the wood. Then I saw it. A white light spread across the ground in front of me. The clouds had parted from where they were, revealing the moon at its fullest. I stared in awe. It had never been so bright. The ambiance began to come back. The wind began to dance with the trees. I closed my eyes. The scent of oak filled my nose and exhaled through my mouth. The aroma filled me with exhilaration. It filled me with something I couldn't explain. I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time. Although it was something I wasn't used to feeling, I craved it deeply. I felt happy. I felt as if nothing else mattered than this moment. I opened my eyes. Everything seemed clearer. I could see the particles of dust flying in the beam of light that shone around me. I wanted to stay here for longer. I wanted this moment to last forever. Until I saw the wolf. It was hidden among the fold of trees behind me. It stared at me in aggravation. It's brows furrowed in my direction. It's face, livid with anger, revealed a set of unpleasant and sharp teeth. It began to move slightly forward. The wolf bounded towards me. It happened so quickly I had no time to react. It's limbs outstretched. It's teeth bared. My body, paralyzed from fear, refused to move. My lip quivered, urged to call for help, but no help would come. I was too deep into the woods. No one would hear my screams. The thought was soon interrupted by the wolf's teeth digging into my side.Complete

"I want you." With a touch as light as a feather, Cillian hooked a thick finger under her chin to get a better look at her face. "Look at me." His golden eyes were as direct, not even blinking as much as the average person. They glistened in the moonlight that peeked through the blinds, bringing an inhuman shine to them. A satisfied smile stretched across his lips until his prominent canines made an appearance. A finger tugged on the collar of her shirt and dragged it down- just enough to reveal the mark that was imprinted forever on her delicate neck. "Do remember what this means?" It was this speech, this deep, heavy voice of his that immediately set him apart from everyone else. No longer able to hold his gaze, her eyes fell and she shook her head. His hand caught somewhere behind her neck and base of her jaw to tilt her head back so her eyes met his. "I think you do." He persisted. His other hand came up to lightly brush the hair back away from her face. "What are we, hmm?" His fingers trailed down the curves of her body until they settled on her hips to gently tug her closer, pulling a sharp inhale from her. With their bodies pressed together, hearts racing in sync, and butterflies fluttering in both of their stomachs, she peeked up at him once more.
