REVISED EDITION COMING OUT MONTHLY/COMPLETED In a world overrun by zombies, A single bite heralds doom - except for Kaindra, who defies death itself, being undead already. ******** As humanity struggles to adapt to the new reality of zombies-infested streets and lurking supernatural creatures from ancient myths and legends, survival becomes an ever-evolving challenge. Survival is a constant battle not only against the undead but also against supernatural creatures and their zealous followers. The relentless onslaught of zombies and the mysterious reemergence of mythical beings push society to its limits. Civilization's last bastions fall one by one, teetering on the brink of collapse. As these ancient myths awaken, they reveal intentions that are far from clear- some may hold the key to salvation, while others could herald further doom. The question remains: Can humanity unravel the mysteries of these legendary beings in time to save themselves, or will they fall prey to the very legends they once dismissed? ___ Excerpt: Taking a deep breath, I lean closer to the mirror, my skin prickling. I thought it was a trick of the light, but as I stare at my reflection, my fragile lies crumble away. The reflection staring back at me feels unrecognizable. My once deep, dark brown eyes now glimmer with an otherworldly light, like twin moons suspended in a sea of silver. The faint glow within them swirls softly, catching the dim flicker of flame I summoned, like ripples across a moonlit lake. Their alien intensity sends a chill down my spine. The orbs seemed to hold a universe within, depths of endless mysteries and ancient wisdom beyond my grasp. ___ Warning: Mentions of suicide and self-harm Beautiful cover made by @scmimi. It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. This book is one that I wrote in 2018, in my junior and senior years of high school. It felt very important to me at the time of writing, but it doesn't reflect who I am now. It's... not very good. It only sold like two or three copies. This book was edited by my friend B. Fox of Fox Editing. About the book itself, off the back cover: In 2014, the Blood Countess met her end on her farm outside of East St. Louis, Illinois. Her accomplices, however, had successfully evaded the law. Two years later, something sinister has come to a rural Wisconsin community. Nova is a logged-in, nonbinary teenager with an interest in serial killers. Sam is a drug-dealing gearhead preparing to graduate. Meredith is a sheltered, redhead nerd with a tragic backstory. Taka is an edgy white boy with an interest in wolves and a need to seem cool. Can they save those they love? More importantly, can they save themselves? And is that howling in the woods the local wildlife, or is it something far more dangerous? CONTENT WARNINGS: This book contains often graphic depictions of some pretty horrible things. If you are distressed by drug abuse, self-harm, suicide, animal death, sexual abuse, transphobia, racism, ableism, other forms of bigotry, or death, you may want to choose some different reading material. The characters in this book are bad people. They do bad things. In the end, they feel sorry for these things, but their apology does not excuse their actions. It should go without saying that the views of the characters are not the views of the author.
