I tried to look away but he started chanting words that I couldn’t understand, hypnotizing me with his mind powers. I knew in those few moments that he was erasing my memories everything about him, the way he smiled, the way he rolled his eyes when I said he shouldn’t be rude, the way he stretched his arms around me as in excuse to get closer to me, all of my memories of him, my past, it would be all gone.
Everything goes black, I’m walking but I don’t know where I’m going, my mind is blank. My knees are weak, tired, I feel dizzy. I close my eyes stumbling down the last thing I hear is the sound of crickets stopping. And suddenly everything is blank.
"Please wake up." I said as I held his hand. I looked for any sign of response; a movement beneath an eyelid, a twitch of a finger. Nothing. He was just... blank. I felt the tears come. I played with his hand in mine; traced invisible messages in his palm with my finger, hoping just maybe he'd magically be able to get them. Tears started falling down my cheeks. I held his hand gently against my lips. Tears dropped on his fingers until they were as wet as my eyes. I rested my head on his limp hand. "I told you I needed you to stay."
