There is an ancient legend among wolf kind. That two wolves will unite, one who knows the way of the humans and the child of an alpha and will bring peace or destruction to the lands. When a mother wolf realizes that her pup is one of the wolves in the prophecy, she leaves him in human society in hopes it wouldn't come true, unknowingly sealing his fate. Toothless is the next pack alpha and has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders. He runs away, hoping to clear his mind, so how did he find a packless wolf who was raised by humans and what is this prophecy and how is he and this human raised wolf some how involved in it. How to Train Your Dragon Rider
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third is the only son of Stoick the Vast, chief of the Hooligan tribe. As his only son, he is next in line for the chiefdom which wouldn't be a problem, if he wasn't a runt. Viking's believe that a name is what strikes fear into your enemies. Hiccup's obviously doesn't. The name is given to those who won't survive their first winter. Those who don't belong, those who will not be any more than a burden. Hiccup isn't an exception to this. I mean, sure he survived his first winter, and the next fifteen. But he caused problems, not on purpose. Things just happened when he was around. First when he was six, and a nearby furnace blew up when he lost his temper. Then when he was eight, nine, eleven. These strange happenings kept occurring, and nothing he did helped. Everything he did, everything he tried had some way of turning back on him. For the longest time he believe that the God's cursed him. Hiccup and Toothless left Berk thinking no one cared. Being the neglected child of Berk (despite his family, and being the heir to the village), Hiccup decided he'd had enough. He took Toothless and his most treasured belongings and high-tailed it out of there. When he runs into his long-lost mother, life looks up for Hiccup. He's found a place where he belongs.
