In Australia, where Christmas means heatwaves and building sand-men for children, Rose and Hugo has a new neighbor who moved in three weeks prior to Christmas Eve. Rose is all for finding out the identity of this new neighbor, but Hugo is not so keen. After all, what has all this have to do with two children? When the two actually investigate, they find that this man may have more to do with them than they originally thought.
