Nine Years Earlier

I couldn't believe it. My twenty-year-old brother, my four-year-old brother, and my two-year-old sister are dead. Half of us children, along with my favorite aunt and uncle are gone. Gone forever. No seeing them or hugging them ever again.
"Mommy, where are we going?" I asked, trying not to cry again.
She thought for a minute. "I think we're going to the mortal planet. The one called Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy."
I sat back in my seat, taking it all in. "We're going to Earth." And then I fell deep asleep.
