Master Secretary,

I write to you with urgent news.  A document has been recovered from close by the old Ministry building.  It appears to be a diary kept by Dr. Cossereau himself.  I have hardly had time to read properly through its pages, but what I have seen has convinced me of its importance.  

It proves that there was a cultic element at play in the terrible incident in the Ministry a week ago, and Cossereau was up to his neck in it.  A fellow of the Royal Society of Chemists, practicing at necromancy - the papers would be full of it if the story got out.

The documents are being analysed as I write.  I shall deliver an annotated copy to you posthaste.
