Cole Delphis is sent to the Wales Mental Institution for Troubled Young Adults. His parents, the well known Scottish actor and actress Maria and Alfred Delphis, insisted that it was "for his own good", but Cole knows that they just want to hide him away from the media, not wanting anyone to find out their dirty little secret. Every since he was a child, there has always been something odd about Cole. He changes mood, personalities, and appearance fairly quickly. Most have brushed it off as 'the teenage years', but after a particularly violent outburst, parents rushed him to the doctor's. Cole was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder, and some of his 'personalilities' suffer from depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, anger issues, and bipolar disorders. When the institution decides to take them on a camping trip, he is paired up with a group of outcasts that he isn't particularly fond of. Then again, who could he befriend in this nuthouse? After several breakdowns, strange situations involving porta-potties and platypus eggs (long story), and many, many, calculus problems, the group of misfits accept each other and become a close knit group, ironically named The Normals. But this adventure filled to the brim with stolen kisses, drama, cliche scenes, sarcasm, hatred, and awful puns is anything but normal.
