Esther Deveraux, a quiet vampire living on the outskirts of the big city, is invited to the palace to partake in a fair to become the King's new wife.
King Adrian quickly chooses her as his favorite and as they are preparing for the wedding a decree is passed that will enslave all humans.

The only problem is, Esther was raised by humans.  As far as Esther is considered she is human.  And she will save her people even if it means she will have to defy her husband to do so.
