Malachi Grayson, a twenty-four year old, lived an ordinary life away from his home town. Living in a small studio apartment and working a small nighttime job that barely paid for his bills. Getting a phone call from a friend, informing him that his father's cancer has gotten worse forces him to return home to the place he promised never to come back to. Returning to his original home of Charleston makes his whole life go downhill when he meets up with old faces. Especially the one of Xavier Tollerman.

Xavier Tollerman, a thirty year old man, just got released from prison after three long years. Returning to the small town he calls home, he sees that nothing has changed. People still feared him, which he loved. Which ever sidewalk he walked on, people made sure to walk on the opposite side. Xavier never wanted to get close to anyone as he saw love as a weakness and just wanted to survive on fixing cars, drinking at night and having one night stands with random men and women. He never wanted to change for anyone until he sees Malachi Grayson.
